Important update re. All Ireland Hotels

A chairde,

We have just been contacted by Killarney Tourism, informing us of a recent change in VAT legislation in Ireland in the New Year.

On the 10th October 2018, the Minister of Finance announced that the rate of Value Added Tax in the tourism and hospitality sector is to rise from 9% to 13.5%, effective from 1st January 2019.  This is an increase of 4.5%.

All hotels are required to adjust the new VAT rate across all rates, events and business for next year as they must adhere to this new legislation.

After discussion with the Management of the Gleneagle group, they have agreed to try to absorb some of these statutory increases but cannot absorb them all.  Adjusted rates (highlighted in red for each accommodation type) will therefore apply for Oireachtas Rince na hEireann 2019.

For people staying in accommodation elsewhere, we would advise you to contact your accommodation provider directly to be advised of what rate you will actually pay next February.

The Gleneagle group hotels will be reaching out to all people with confirmed bookings over the next couple of weeks to advise them directly.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause but this is out of the control of An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha.

Le dea ghuí,

James McCutcheon
Chairman – Coiste Oireachtas
An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha
